Rep. Mary Ellen Otremba, DFL-Long Prairie, often is being lobbied on the House floor before a vote.
Thursday, again, she was among lawmakers being
pressured to vote for a transportati8on funding measure.
She hesitated supporting the measure because her constituents say they
do not want the gasoline tax to rise. She has received 470 communications
against the bill and just 77 in favor, she said.
"The average Joe sees the gas tax news," she said. "Those are the
stories I get."
House Majority Leader Tony Sertich sat next to Otremba for quite some
time while colleagues debated the bill, trying to get her to vote for it.
"I keep listening," she said.
