It was like Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller went to confession
– in front of the Capitol press corps.
The Minneapolis Democrat promised to work better with Republican Gov.
Tim Pawlenty than he has in the past.
"The speaker (Margaret Anderson Kelliher, another Minneapolis Democrat)
has been more collaborative than I have been," Pogemiller confessed.
But after firing Pawlenty’s transportation commissioner and overriding
the governor’s veto of a transportation funding bill, Pogemiller said he
understands things need to change.
"We need a partnership with the executive," he said.
Pogemiller limited his Pawlenty criticism during a news conference reacting
to an enlarged state budget deficit, a time when he normally would have been a vocal opponent.
"I’m going to reform." the majority leader said.
