It’s Reunion Time

May is political reunion time.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and former Sen. Jane Krentz plan
separate reunions.

Ritchie said he expects former secretary of states Mary Kiffmeyer, Joan
Growe, and Arlen Erdahl to attend his reunion, part of the state’s 150th birthday
celebration.

"For 150 years, public servants in the office of the secretary of state
have been dedicated to facilitating commerce in this state and administering
elections," Ritchie said. "On behalf of our state, I thank them
for their service to our citizens and communities."

The reunion of office-holders and employees will be May 15 in Ritchie’s
office. A public open house will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a short program mid-way
through the event.

Ritchie’s event comes at the same time that an original Declaration of
Independence copy will be on display at the Minnesota History
Center
.

Former Sen. Krentz plans a reunion of Minnesota senators and press corps a week
earlier than the Ritchie event. Her $60-per-person gathering will be in a Twin
Cities hotel.
