The U.S. House passed a measure to name the newly opened Alexandria, Minn., veterans’ clinic after Max J. Beilke.
U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., who sponsored the bill, said: “Sgt. Beilke was a true advocate for veterans, and naming this clinic for him is a reminder of his tireless service."
Beilke served 22 years in the Army and was the last U.S. combat solider to leave Vietnam in March of 1973. He died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorists attack on the Pentagon.
