Minnesota’s two U.S. senators joined a letter urging President Barack Obama to launch a major infrastructure-repair program to create jobs.
U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, both Democrats, used the 2007 Interstate 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis as an example of deteriorating infrastructure.
“It’s time to put folks back to work,” Franken said. “We need to start building again. It’s just common sense to create jobs by rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure. Today I’m urging the President to focus his job efforts on Main Street.”
