Gov.-elect Mark Dayton and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will help raise money for northeastern Minnesota food shelves.
The two will appear at a Tuesday evening St. Paul event organized by Lyndia Bohn and state Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook. Similar events have raised $150,000 in the past three years.
“This is the fourth year that I’ve hosted this event and our economy is still slowly recovering from the recession,” Bakk said. “We still have job losses, stagnant wages and rapidly rising food costs. And families are still stretched to the limit. We are doing our part to step out and help and I hope that all Minnesotans are taking some time to help others this holiday season.â€
Minnesota Power, Thomson Reuters, Microsoft, Cleveland Cliffs, United States Steel and the Vikings are the host sponsors of the event. Other sponsors are Lockridge Grindal Nauen, Minnesota Energy Resources, Delta Dental, the Liffey and Union House Printing.
The event is 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Liffey, 175 W. Seventh St., St. Paul.
