Red River officials keep Dayton informed

Red River Valley officials want to make sure Gov. Mark Dayton is fully informed and prepared to act on flood-related issues.

On Friday, six days after Dayton visited Moorhead and nearby areas, Clay County Commissioner Jon Evert and Moorhead Mayor Mark Voxland were in Dayton’s Capitol office to provide the governor with another update. Nothing new they said, it was just to keep him informed.

Evert appeared to question the wisdom of Dayton’s request for $3 million to build a ring dike around 129-population Georgetown, about 10 miles north of Moorhead.

“Is it worth it for that small of a town?” Evert asked.
