Disabled protest in Senate, forcing recess

Disability rights activists disrupted the this morning’s state Senate session with chants such as “cuts kill.”

Senate President Michelle Fischbach, R-Paynesville, ordered that the public galleries be cleared and the Senate went into a recess for a few minutes as protesters outshouted senators.

Protesters were complaining about Republican-proposed cuts to health-care programs. They pledged to continue protests until the planned cuts are rescinded.
