A political campaign education group formed by supporters of the late U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone, D-Minn., is going after Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
Wellstone Action Executive Director Ben Goldfarb sent a message to the group’s followers designed to put fear in the hearts of progressives: “the first Tea Party president of the United States.”
The organization is working on a strategy for national Democrats to take “back the House so that we can toss the Tea Party in 2012,” Goldfarb wrote.
Wellstone Action has been successful in training candidates and campaign workers. It claims more than 40,000 activists who have undergone training by the St. Paul-based group have been elected.
The organization formed after Wellstone died in a 2002 plane crash.
