Minnesota Viking Bernard Berrian didn’t like state Rep. John Kriesel’s assessment of Sunday’s Vikings loss to Kansas City.
Berrian traded messages with Kriesel on Twitter, and in one tweet told the Cottage Grove lawmaker to “sit down n shut up.”
Kriesel poked fun at the wide receiver’s on-field performance in the 22-17 loss, tweeting: “If you want to follow a hilarious twitter account, try (Berrian) who says that he’s open and should get the ball more.”
Berrian responded: “Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. Not just one game but all of them.”
In another tweet, Berrian added: “and if not sit down n shut up.”
“Don’t be pissed at me dude. Make a play,” Kriesel wrote to Berrian.
Kriesel is an ardent football fan and backs legislation to build a new Vikings stadium. He’s a prolific Twitter user who often offers candid opinions on sports, politics and other matters via Twitter’s 140-character messages.
“I don’t expect Berrian to care if I’m a stadium supporter or not,” Kriesel wrote. “He won’t be in the NFL when the stadium opens. …”
Kriesel seemed humored by the exchange.
“I deserved it,” he wrote of criticism from Berrian. “I ripped on him. I’m just surprised that he even cares about what me or others would say. I’m amused.”
