Minnesota’s natural resources commissioner is launching an advisory committee to deal with aquatic invasive species.
Such species — with zebra mussels, Asian carp and Eurasian watermilfoil the best known — are moving into Minnesota waters and taking food away from native species.
Commissioner Tom Landwehr asked that people interested in the subject, who can review reports, prepare comments and take part in up to eight meetings a year to apply for a seat on the 15-member panel. Initial appointees will serve two or three years.
Applications will be accepted online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/ais-app. Deadline for applying is Oct. 19.
