Wednesday was not a good day for Gov. Mark Dayton, and it had nothing to do with politics.
The Democratic governor made a bet on Dec. 10 with Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey over three professional sports games with teams from the two states over that weekend. All three were in Arizona, and the Minnesota teams lost them all.
The Cardinals beat the Vikings in football 23-20, Coyotes edged the Wild 2-1 in hockey and the Suns beat the Timberwolves 108-101.
Dayton, a one-time hockey star, grudgingly pulled a Coyotes’ jersey over his dress shirt and tie after talking to reporters about several serious stories. He said it was painful.
But the experience did not last long. He quickly covered the Arizona jersey with one from the Wild, which he said he would send to Ducey.
